Originally an industrial city, world famous for its steel production, Sheffield, in the West Riding of Yorkshire, has undergone a strong revival in recent years, as demonstrated by a surge of redevelopments, including the City Lofts Tower and accompanying St Paul's Place, as well as the Winter Gardens, Peace Gardens and Millennium Galleries. Sheffield also has the largest theatre complex outside London, comprising the Lyceum Theatre, the Crucible Theatre and the Studio Theatre.
The City of Sheffield is near the confluence of five rivers, and much of it is built on hillsides with views either into the city centre or out onto the countryside. It is estimated that Sheffield has over two million trees, more per person than any other city in Europe. There is also a city farm at Heeley City Farm and a second animal collection in Graves Park that is open to the public.
